Canada to resume eTA & Visitor Visas Processing, effective July 1, 2020

June 30 - Breaking: The IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) confirmed in the latest media release that Canada is going to resume Visitor Visas & eTA processing from July 1st, 2020.

Can I Travel to Canada now?

Well, not now. The travel restrictions still apply, however Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is resuming processing in an effort to be proactive on future processing times. IRCC also plans to change the Canadian Immigration System in 2020. IRCC also notes that due to current travel restrictions, most people will not be able to travel to Canada at this time. Travel exemptions are for family members who are staying for more than 15 days or who are coming to Canada for an essential reason, skilled workers, and others. Travelers must also demonstrate to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) that they are traveling for an essential reason in order to be granted entry to Canada.

Is Immigration Stopped too?

The answer is NO! Immigration is a long term process that requires you to put a lot of time and effort in order to get success. It does not require you to travel immediately. The government of Canada has not stopped immigration to date. In fact, the IRCC held more Express Entry Draws since the world pandemic was announced in March 2020.
